Delia's EC Journey (so far)

Delia on a Baby Bjorn Little Potty at three months old. We had been ECing for about a month. She was in waterproof cloth diapers full time. We responded to cues and used timing. A trip to Florida allows Delia to pee and poop outside for the first time at five months old! Right around this time, we noticed she was going longer between pees, from about every 20 minutes to 35-45 ormore. This meant more catches! Another outside pee in southern Illinois.

By five and a half months, we realized Delia rarely peed while sleeping. So we started our diaper free time at naps and at the beginning of the night. ECing "Out and About" Here we are in a Wal-Mart family bathroom. It's always good to have a fun toy or book ready for potty time. Here, during a visit to an ECing friends' house, a neighborhood dog keeps Delia entertained by playing fetch.

It's finally warm enough in Minnesota to pee outside - quickly and then get the diaper back on! We are still using prefolds and waterproof covers the majority of the time. Going potty is just a normal part of life. This is a nap wake up pee at nine months. Around nine months we saw another big jump in catches, and switched from bulky prefolds/cover to waterproof Snap Pants. By this time, Delia had invented her own sign for "potty" - patting her chest with both hands.

Delia on her first birthday, on the potty! 15 months, most of Delia's non-waterproofed time is still while she's asleep. At 17 months we switched to nonwaterproof underwear during the day. Sometimes this includes light training pants if we run out of normal underwear.

19 months 20 months. Peeing in the grass at a zoo. Misses are rare - usually less than one per 24 hours, but we do have days with 3-5 misses when everything is "off." We rely mostly on timing and are trying to encourage more signalling.
